Albania, Tirana: Mytilineos said on 16 April it has signed a $25.4 M (€21.2 M) contract with Albania’s state-owned power transmission system operator OST.

The contract was made for the construction and extension of substations in the country.

The deal includes the construction of a new substation, Elbasan 3, which will extend the existing 400/220/30 kV substation Elbasan 2 with a new switchyard on 400 kV level to connect the lines to Tirana 2, Zemblak, Fier and North Macedonia substations, Mytilineos said in a statement.

The company will also extend the existing 220 KV switchyard at substation Fier with new bays and a new 400/220/35 kV transformer.

The project is expected to be completed within 24 months, with additional 12 months of warranty period.

It is co-financed by the Federal Republic of Germany through development bank KfW and by the European Union within the Western Balkans Investment Framework, the statement read.
