China is planning to invest at least 2 trillion yuan in construction of power distribution network during 2015-2020 including 300 billion yuan of investment in 2015, according to an action plan on power distribution network construction and transformation for 2015-2020 released by the National Energy Administration on Monday.
In order to balance the development of power distribution network in rural and urban areas, the action plan put up to provide greater policy support for the construction of power distribution network in rural area. According to the plan, China targets to increase the power transformation capacity of high-voltage distribution network to 2.1 billion KVA with total length of 1.01 million kilometers by 2020, and that of medium-voltage distribution network to 1.15 billion KVA with total length of 4.04 million kilometers.
The plan also pointed out to enhance the power supply stability rate to 99.99 percent in central cities and 99.88 percent in urban areas by 2020. Besides, China would strengthen construction and transformation of charging facilities and target to feed the access demand for 12,000 charging stations and 4.8 million charging poles and charging demand for 5 million electric vehicles by 2020. Meanwhile, the coverage of smart meters will be promoted to 90 percent by 2020.
